Jacqueline has a long history as an activist for women’s rights. Through her business, Janssen & Associates, she placed women, including women of color, in leadership positions. A lifetime member of the Ms. Foundation, when a Commissioner on the Marin County Women’s Commission, she was a representative to the California Commission on Women. Jacqueline was a Nominated Changemaker for the White House’s United State of Women, and with gender-equity expert Bonita Banducci, presented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York. She taught classes in career advancement for the YWCA, which also offered her course, Women Can Negotiate.
Her business experience, advocacy, and lived experience ultimately led her to advocate for recognition of mothers’ and families’ knowledge in the treatment of mental illness. She believes collaboration should begin at the onset of illness, not only after it becomes severe. Her Clinician-Family Collaboration work builds on that principle by helping clinicians and families work as partners in treatment and recovery. Jacqueline is a graduate of UC Berkeley and a member of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE), where she serves as a lead for the Oral History Project.
